Abstract 

Considering the perspective of contrastive  linguistics, I have shown some differences between Romanian and French with respect to the adjectival determination used to lexicalize the notion ‘dark coloured eyes’. I have dealt mostly with the Romanian adjectives brun and maro(n) and with their French correspondents brun and marro(n).
